Whew – what a full, fun, and crazy week!! We took lots of pictures this week (which we normally DON’T do), so I am going to just post the massive amounts of photos and tell you what they are about as we go. But first,…..

Too funny! Okay, so lets get this weekly picture post started –
Both girls had class parties this week to celebrate Halloween. All the teachers and administration at the school dressed as characters in Toy Story – there was even a slinky dog (with a teacher at each end) and aliens! Emerson’s teacher was Woody – or Jesse?
Halloween here is no joke – like most adults dress up too! Houses go all out, people dress up like crazy, and lots and lots of candy is passed out. Check out these characters for the Wizard of Oz – Dorothy (x2!!), Glenda the Good Witch, and the Cowardly Lion (though he wasn’t real cowardly).
Here are some pics of a neighboring area where we went trick or treating – this place is called Forest Hills Gardens and has BEAUTIFUL houses that don’t look like they belong here…and green grass 🙂 This gives you an idea of how big Halloween is here.

This past weekend, we had a pretty wide open schedule (which hasn’t been the case lately), so we decided to travel into the city and do something fun. While there are lots of things that are still hard about living here, getting to experience all this amazing city has to offer isn’t hard.
The kids have been begging to do two things in the city – go to the Children’s Museum to play and go to the Cookie Dough place that everyone was talking about (it is a restaurant where they give scoops of cookie dough, have cookie dough cupcakes, and is so good!). Despite all we did this weekend, we came out pretty cheap. The children’s museum was having free admission on the first friday of the month, so we joined in on that. We got a great deal on a B1G1 sub at subway for dinner that night. And then after eating cookie dough, visiting Washington Square Park and the secret Downing Street playground, we stopped at Chick-fil-a and got a cheap lunch thanks to free sandwich coupons. My kind of weekend 😉

That evening, we won the lottery for 2 tickets to see Anastasia (they are discounted tickets that you are randomly selected for). We had been trying for a while and finally won!! Ed took Kinsley with the promise that I would take Emerson next time we won. The show started at 8 pm so Kinsley faded fast after intermission – but she pepped up getting autographs after the show. It also worked for our favor that she is our early riser and daylight savings time was that night – so technically, she got an extra hour and slept later the next morning.
This little one turned 9 months old this week! Crazy!! She is so mobile and into everything now. Including pulling up to her brother’s chair and swiping his peanut butter and jelly sandwich so she could eat it. When Blake started crawling, he didn’t really put little things in his mouth so we didn’t have to be super, super vigilant. This kid, on the other hand, is the total opposite. We are back into baby proofing mode and into operation get-big-kids-to-keep-small-things-off-the-floor. Whew!
Today is Election Day so the kids don’t have school. We had a fun playdate this morning with a girl that my girls adore. Her family, along with a few others, have been so life-giving and such an answer to prayer for our family. What’s better than making necklaces, eating snacks, and listening to Moana?
